Manistee police investigating shooting that left 2 dead

MANISTEE — On Sunday, Jan. 12 at 2:12 p.m., the Manistee City Police Department was sent to the 900 block of High Street on a report that two people had suffered gunshot wounds.

Upon arrival, officers found two people inside the residence with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the head, they said. The victims were taken to Munson Manistee Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, police said.

Based on the preliminary investigation, there is no threat to public.

This is a fluid investigation, and the Manistee City Police will continue to investigate with the assistance of the Michigan State Police and Manistee County Sheriff’s Department and Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Department of Public Safety.
