TRAVERSE CITY - The Traverse City Kiwanis Club is celebrating 100 years. The club is dedicated to serving young people in the community through different acts of service like giving 3rd graders a dictionary or volunteering at high school key clubs. There’s also a program where students in grand traverse region can be sponsored by the Kiwanis Club if they have an interest in law enforcement. The club is reflecting on the last century and what they have provided for the community.
“What it means is a lot of dedication to the community, and that’s what we focus on... The recognition that we look for is primarily just serving the community. As I said, I’ve been doing it 35 years and we have several programs to do that and keep us afloat within the community,” says Jim Massaroni, President Traverse City Kiwanis Club
The Kiwanis Club has added a engraved stone at the Civic Center in honor of their 100 years. You can see it in the Kiwanis Club Garden.
