Roscommon Co. deputies help deliver baby for woman who was in active labor

ROSCOMMON COUNTY - The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office had a different sort of emergency Thursday morning - helping deliver a baby.

Around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Chris Meir from Houghton Lake came into the sheriff’s office needing assistance for his significant other, Jessica Schaffer, who was in active labor.

Meir told officers he was parked in front of the sheriff’s office, and multiple people sprang into action. Deputies said sheriff’s office workers as well as others assisted until an ambulance arrived.
