BATA opens new Park-n-Ride in Garfield Township

BATA Upgrades

GARFIELD TOWNSHIP — On Tuesday, the Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) opened a new Park-n-Ride location on Lafrainer Road in Garfield Township.

The location has 40 daily parking spaces that will have direct connections with stops to downtown Traverse City.

BATA also has a new headquarters, meaning more space for bus storage and an upgraded maintenance center that will allow buses to be repaired in house.

They said these new additions will create even more opportunities for them to expand.

“We’re seeing the demand for public transportation continue to increase across our community, especially here on the south side of Traverse City in Garfield Township, with a lot of developments. The whole Rainier Corridor here is seeing more housing, more senior living facilities...so having transit in that thoroughfare just makes perfect sense,” said Eric Linguar, BATA director of communications.

There will be a block party to celebrate the new headquarters in October, with more details to be released at a later date.
