Grand Traverse Bay YMCA Hosts ‘Cans for a Cause’ Food Drive

Grand Traverse Bay YMCA Hosts 'Cans for a Cause' Food Drive - Grand Traverse Bay YMCA Hosts 'Cans for a Cause' Food Drive

If you’re getting nervous about those extra calories from holiday meals, the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA has you covered.

Starting Wednesday, you can bring in non-perishable foods to any of the YMCA locations in the Traverse City area and they’ll waive the $100 joining fee.

It’s part of their Cans for a Cause Food Drive where they team up with the Northwest Food Coalition and Goodwill Northern Michigan to help fight food insecurity in the region.

“In 2023, there’s a lot we want to do to kind of ramp up those efforts. We’re doing community breakfasts and wellness workshops, a lot of free events for the community,” Jay Bushen, Director of Membership at the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA, said. “And we just wanted to get out there and do something for everyone.”

You have until Friday to sign up and take part of the Cans for a Cause Food Drive.
