“Be bold, and get cold” is the saying for this year’s polar plunge in Lake City.
The event takes place this Saturday at 1 p.m. in downtown Lake City. People from all over will meet at the Town Pump Saloon. Proceeds from the event will support the Special Olympics Michigan. So far, they’ve raised $19,000, with a goal of $25,000. The plunging will take place in Lake Missaukee.
“We’ve had a rough couple of years and we really are looking forward to sending our athletes back to play, back to competition,” said Stephanie Graham, Special Olympics Michigan Lake City Polar Plunge Coordinator. “Our athletes are the most important thing. Not only are they excited, they’re competitive.”
