MSP Investigating Mount Pleasant Assault and Homicide

Michigan State Police say two men have been arrested after an investigation lead troopers to find a woman dead in a Mount Pleasant home.

Troopers say Wednesday, they responded to a Mount Pleasant hospital to investigate a reported felonious assault.

They say the uncooperative victim sustained severe injuries requiring medical treatment.

Troopers state they worked in partnership with the Mount Pleasant Police Department and Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Department to investigate leads.

They say evidence and information from a neighborhood canvas led investigators to a home in Union Township where the suspect was observed with two other people.

On Thursday, as steps were started to contact the people inside the home, all three residents exited and drove away in a car.

Troopers say the car being driven by a suspect caused a personal injury crash.

They state troopers and members of the Mid-Michigan Investigative Narcotics Team (MINT) immediately responded and detained the three occupants. They say two of the occupants received treatment at a local hospital.

Troopers say during the a search warrant at the suspect’s home, a body of a deceased female was found. They say further investigation led to the identification of the victim and additional evidence that two male subjects in custody were suspected in the homicide.

Troopers say currently, all investigative information leads to this being a tragic incident involving known associates.

They say there are no indications of any of the crimes involved being random acts against people not associated with the original assault.

Troopers say there are no known suspects at large, and say that the suspects have been identified as a 20-year-old Mount Pleasant man and a 19-year-old Mount Pleasant man.

Both men have been lodged in Isabella County Jail.
