The Health Department of Northwest Michigan says they are in daily contact with the man who tested positive for coronavirus at Otsego Memorial Hospital.

They say he was likely exposed to the virus during international travel.

The health department says he is currently isolated at home.

They are also working with him to figure out just where he has been and who he may have potentially exposed.

We spoke with the department’s health officer who says they are working quickly, and diligently to complete that investigation.

“As soon as we have any additional information we will share that with the public, especially if there is any public risk. One thing that is important to know is, anyone with a direct risk will be contacted directly by the health department,” said Health Officer at the Health Department of Northwest Michigan, Lisa Peacock.

“The majority of patients who get this disease will do just fine, they are going to have mild symptoms they are going to make it through it without problems,” said Chief Medical Officer at Otsego Memorial Hospital, Dr. Janelle Hendrian.

Health professionals want to remind everyone that if you believe you are exhibiting coronavirus symptoms that you should not just show up to a hospital or doctor’s office.

If you can, instead reach out to a health care professional on the phone first.

That way, they can minimize those exposed.
