More than a thousand miles away, the Fort Hood, Texas shooting hit close to home.

Army Sergeant Dominic Moes, from Boyne City, is stationed at Fort Hood.

Sgt. Moes was not hurt in the attack.

He was off base when the shooting happened and when he got back the base was on lockdown.

Meantime, his parents who now live in East Jordan waited anxiously for a call.
