ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz says he's not sure if star receiver Calvin Johnson will be ready for Sunday's visit to Seattle. Johnson is recovering from a knee injury, and the Lions have struggled to come up with needed big plays while he's sidelined.

DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Pistons host the Orlando Magic tonight, and Richard Hamilton is expected to miss his third straight game with a sprained right ankle. The leading scorer was hurt in last week's win at Memphis, and the Pistons have struggled without him on offense.

UNDATED (AP) — It will be a matchup of two of the NHL's top teams from last season as the Detroit Red Wings play at home tonight against the Boston Bruins. Injuries and inconsistency have plagued both teams in the early going this year.

DETROIT (AP) — Former Michigan State University football coach George Perles says he's considering a campaign for governor but won't announce whether he'll run until after New Year's Day. The 75-year-old Democrat and Detroit native is the third winningest coach in Spartan history.
